Are you equipped with any amount of pest control knowledge? You can learn a lot, and here you’ll discover much that will let you do things on your own. There are lots of things you could do to ensure that your home remains pest free.

Use steel wool to plug any holes that may be an entrance way for pests, like mice. Although rodents can gnaw through a lot of different materials, they are not strong enough to chew the metal strands from steel wool. Stuff any holes larger than 1/2 inch. Rodents can slip through very small openings.

TIP! Once you eliminate fruit flies, do they seem to keep returning? You may have a problem with your drain. Place plastic wrap over your drain, keep it there for a handful of days, and see if any flies have begun appearing.

To prevent insects from getting in your home, spray the outside of it with perimeter spray. Spray your foundation, your steps, porch and any areas that are near windows and doors. While you’re doing this, look for crevices and crack that could allow pests entry to your home. Use caulk or some other filling product to seal these areas.

Look around your house for standing water. Standing water is a huge attraction for pests. Check for pipes that are leaking and trays you use for plants. All pests require water to be able to survive in your home.

Mint Leaves

TIP! Hairspray can be used to kill bees and other stinging insects. In addition to killing existing bugs, it also repels future ones.

Do you have a mice problem? Try using mint. Plant mint outside around your home’s foundation. When you do this, mice won’t want to live there. When you sprinkle mint leaves in various areas of your home, it will keep mice away. Mint leaves effectively repel mice if they are fresh.

Use the advice above to help you get a handle on pesky pest problems in your home. It is high time that you tell those pests to ship out. You should now be more equipped to do so. Be sure and implement the tips you’ve just read and begin your defense against the pests that have invaded your home.
